Hello
Could I possibly use a 9V (PP3) battery instead of 8x1.2V?
I currently have 8 AA bats and they are way too heavy (my robo has trouble moving around :b).
Thanks

Nope .... It dosent have enough juice ( current ) to drive motors.

You can use it to provide supply for a uC board though.

Ok thanks... I thought it would be so (still had to ask :)).
Anyway, is there no alternative to reduce battery weight?

reduced weight = increased cost + maintenance

if its ok with you...
LiPO (lithium polymer) is for you.

I never used anything more than NiMH myself, (difficult to get a good charger, but worth the money) and i dont have hands on experience on LiPo.

also try alkaline version of PP3 . I think this will if you wont be running the bot for a long time, continuously.
