i read in some inet article tat by shorting wires , unipolar motor can be

configured into biolar one!!!

.so that they can be used wid bipolar drivers (i m using l297/l298)...

im searchin on it but there s no comprehensive article wid clarity available.

Read the part about unipolar and bipolar motors...understand the difference between the two...think about how each can be driven..

Plus go through the entire article...jones on stepping motors...esp. the part about the driving circuits...

DONT short anything without understanding what you are doing...!

stepper motors comes with 4 wires,5 wires, 6 wires. Only 6 wire stepper motor can be used both unipolar and bipolar. 4 wire is bipolar, 5wire is unipolar. Read robo.pdf from yahoo group-booksbybibin, then you will get it clear

My friend Anand recently wrote an article on using stepper motors, check out this link : http://www.triindia.co.in/resources/?p=40

BTW Mohit...great job with the Resources page on the site...

Both the MATLAB and BEAM articles are very good..!

offtopic sorry guys, but can't resist.

iam looking for some good stepper motors for my homemade CNC project.i have some(taken from old printers) but their current is very less.i think 12v,1-2Amp motor can drive a axis with good torque.so where can i get them in india(prob. in hyderabad) and rough cost if u have any idea.

*my friend said another source of stepper motors is spilt window air conditioner.he said for moving those windows they use stepper motors is it true?
