Hi friends,
I think most of the members have used dc motor used in tape recorders for their robot. Can anyone please suggest me alternative dc motor which has more torque than the simple dc motors, used in tape recorders, without any gears and the power it may consume.
I am planning to build mobile robot with 4 wheels which may weight around 3-5kg. I will use separate motor plus gear box for each wheel. At present I have used 6v, 9v and 12v motor for my prototype gearbox. I have made my own gear box with reduction ratio 40:1. But still I don't think I have enough torque to drive 5kg robot. I request you all to suggest me a better powerful dc motor suitable for this application.

You can make use of Brushed DC electric motor which has the highest torque potential at low speed.
