i am making a hovercraft for iitm shaastra 2007..

i saw on internet that ppl are using "RS 540 motor"...7.2V @1.25 amp and 8000 rpm...i dnt knw which motor i shud use tht wud give the same output 8O ....or else....any other motor within 12 V range that can lift a 2 kg(approx) hovercraft off the ground... :?:

These kinds of motors are very very common. These are use for fans in emergency lights. These look huge in comparison to motors which are use Tape decks, and most commonly are Johnson made.
I don’t know where you from are but can get those in Mumbai, Delhi very easily at the motor shops listed at this site. You just have to say HIGH CURRENT Johnson motor or high RPM high current motor.
I have some Johnson made motors i got arround 9000 RPM with these,
Btw you can get these in the Inkjet printers they are use for belt which drive cartridge. I have found one in HP DeskJet 640c, this was the most common HP model, so you can find one in computer junk. But i would advise you to buy direct from motor shop like Bombay electronics, Servo motors, and Everest cooperation. They will cost around 90- 120 INR.
