Can anyone tell me if its possible to DC-DC upconvert the voltage from 6V/2Ah batteries to upto 36V ? and how ? :-)

Any suggestion for purchsing lightweight NiMH or Li-ion rechargeable batteries in/around Mumbai ?

thats ofcourse possible.

but it gets exponentially expensive with the current you want to draw.

and i assume you want to drive motors.

google for some dc-dc conveter circuits.

or try buying some maxim SMPS controller ICs and using them for your self designed circuit around them. Im sorry i dont remember any number of the ones popularly available in local market. but any smps repair guy would be able to help you with the IC numbers.

for basic concepts see --
http://www.maxim-ic.com/appnotes.cfm/appnote_number/710
and other links on the above page.

for battery shop (tapri) in mumbai, see the "vendors" section of my webpage.

cheers!

Thank you both for the replies... looks like I'm going to have to hit the books for DC-DC conversion theory.

I happened to have come across some good chips at power.national.com too.... they have this tool called WeBench which suggests components based on your design...

Does anyone recommend Li-ion rechargeables ?
