ok, i hacked into my old printer and got a stepper motor.
but it has 5 leads and all leads seem to be to the same coil(when i take a pair and check resistance , it shows zero)
the stepper tut doesnt mention such a stepper ,how do u use this un
btw ive checked and rechecked, it has 5 leads and are all to the same coil
so, help me ,great oracles

1)Check ur motor for a short.
2)There are motors which do not have their second poles shorted. All 2n wires comes out from the motor. You have to short them.Unipolar ones.

Visit the following link for extensive knowledge about steppers and their working.

One reason I guess about the 'zero' resistance could be that the coil is an Inductor, so probably the resistance is very less, whereas impedance may be there when it is being continuously switched.
