Hi Everyone,

I am building a project on a PIC16F877a using MikroC. Upon compiling the code I receive a message saying "Demo Limit". Even after downloading the latest version of MikroC this error persists. How can I overcome this error?

Regards,
Siddharth

Haven't used MikroC, but the reason is obvious, isn't it?.. The demo version is limited in program size. So you either need to buy it or move to some other compiler that is more generous in its limits.

Or you can be brave like me :) and use assembler.

Hi Mohit,
Thanks for responding. If the problem is with the Demo version, then is there any other software available that does not have any limit and is as user friendly as MikroC?
Thanks,
Siddharth

@siddharthsh: Unfortunately, MikroC is the most liberal in term of code size, amongst the C-Compilers for PIC's. You can try HiTech PICC-Lite (clickie) (http://microchip.htsoft.com/products/compilers/PICClite.php), which is free, but is limited to only a few chips, or you could use the Microchip C18 Compiler (clickie) (http://www.microchip.com/stellent/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=1406&dDocName=en010014), which is again free, but supports only the PIC18 series. Personally, I prefer to use the MP_SASM, and I kind of like the Microchip's Structured Assembly, its very different from the Intel assembly, and extremely fun.

I have some time back downloaded Triton IDE from www.oasistechsol.com
for my ARM based project, i can recall it had some PIC support as well, just check it out, i might help as the Triton IDE does not have any code size restriction
Cheers

You can even use picsimulatoride by Oshonsoft upto a minimum no of times on trial, for debugging and simulation. It has a nice GUI......
