Hi,
I have KH42KM2 series Bipolar Stepper motor
In the data sheet voltage is given 2.76 & current is 1.2 Amp
So can I get a maximum torque from stepper motor using 6V / 4AH battery or I need higher voltage battery

And what is the mining of Detent Torque

Regards

bi-polar is better than unipolar.as it deliver more toque.and u already got one.main thing abt the steppers is their driver.they will take care of voltage and current being pumped in to the stepper.so u shld choose ur driver and motor accordingly.
have u planned for any driver?i mean ru gona make one or buy some std. driver?
let me know abt it.bcz iam also looking for some nice driver-motor set.

and for ur question, yes it is possible to drive a stepper at higher voltage than rated, this is called over driving.it is safe untill u chop the current.means u have to control the flow of current by means of driver.

It is NOT safe, unless you 'chop' the control voltage.
...in other words, PWM below 100% duty cycle.
