Hi,

I wanted to learn programming with AVR controllers over this summer. So far I only had a mild experience in programming with 8051 microcontrollers in our college lab. I wanted to get a programmer kit which can connect to my laptop through USB (as it doesnt have parallel or serial ports) and which is preferably supported under linux. Please do guide me about which kit to buy (or, if making one's own makes sense), what else is required to begin programming, and anything else I should know.

Thanks in advance!

as u knw 8051, u can get a lot of info by readin the datsheet of any micro-con.....atmega8 is wat i feel the best micro to start with....

as for programmin, embedded C rocks.....ther r lot of forums to help u out in this regard....

if u r lookin for USB programmer, its better to buy it than waste ur time in makin it (but ofcourse u'll learn a lot wen u make one)
