guys i am completely new to 8051, i want yu to help me out with th power supply circuitary.

You should use a 7805 based regulated power supply for your 8051. The circuit should be like:

The correct terminal by-pass capacitors for 7805 should be:
C1= 0.33uFd. + 100uFd
C2= 1uFd tantalum
C3= 0.01uFd (10nFd)
C4= 0.1uFd (100nFd)
The Vpp MUST be >8VDC

Hi all,
For 8051 you actually need 5v.Try this power supply this gives both 5v & 12v & if you don't want 12v then remove 12v part.Here is the circuit
