Try finding "Programming and Coustomizing with Atmel AVR Microcontrollers" by Dhananjay Gadre. Tata Mcgraw Hill publication.

Embedded C Programming and the Atmel AVR

Read datasheet there is no difference in programming and apllication of At90 and atmega uCs. Only what you need is to write code.

refer my blog for some basic tuts on getting started with AVR microcontrollers, input/output, how to make burner (i.e. hardware for burning code into uC), etc. It might be helpful to you ..

...Those books are only good for UG exams!
Try 'booksbybibin'. Search for Bibin or yogi on this forum and on Google.
More over, Bibin is quite a helpful guy, as far as AVRs are concerned. He is a non-commercial guy and wont ask for 'money' to help you!!
