I want to use ultrasonic sensor (along with IR ) for obstacle detection.I found out some simple circuits from "Electronics For You" magazine.

But couldn't find out any means on how to interface it with computer through RF module means what i will be interfacing or what data/output i will be getting from the receiver ??? ( as in the case of TSOP i was getting either ON/OFF)

I had faced few problems while working on IR (my bad luck  ) to give that brusts along with continuous frequency,is it the same in case of ultrasonic sensor also ??

I am not using any microcontroller.

I think there are two types ...

1. Simple ones which will go on/off when obstacle is found.

2. Ranged ones ... They give a range value ... PWM , SERIAL or Anlog ( ADC )

For u this is perfect

RS232 insted of TTL ( so will work fine with pc and no buffer required )

Well due to some reasons i have to design the whole transmitter and receiver and this one i think is ready to use though not sure :?

can anyone give me some links of tutorial for ultrasonic sensor ?

How it works?? how to measure the echo ??how to track the time when the echo is received ??

I think most of the ultrasonic sensor works at 40Khz.Is this a square wave then do i need to create brusts of 40Khz (as in case of IR) ??

Any useful link or tutorial will help.

Building a ultrasonic rangefinder is not so easy ... anyhow here you go

http://instruct1.cit.cornell.edu/courses/ee476/FinalProjects/s2007/jjl49_mar97/jjl49_mar97/index.htm

http://instruct1.cit.cornell.edu/courses/ee476/FinalProjects/s2004/vsn2/webpage/appendix_b.html

Both will help u learn more and build one if you want.

Here are the ultrasonic components u need to buy
