But remember, a microcontroller does what you code it to do... Not what you intend it to do.

Well the basic requirements for an easy code would be a uC which has >512B of ram(256 for value of each cell and rest for wall positon). This requirement depends heavily on you expertise on coding, u can easily do for lesser ram.
Other things are, does the uC have all feature you want (ADC for sensor etc), How easy is it to learn etc..

So ineffect use a uC that youre comfortable with taking into consideration how ur going to code
