I have a similar question.
What is the best way to control a robot using USB by a computer? Can it be done using MATLAB? MATLAB has something called USB VISA, but I can't seem to make much of it.
There are motor driver boards available which are USB-controlled, but what's a good way of sending inputs to them?

i haven't ever worked with these kind of remote.I dont know about usb but about serial port.I read it online at please read it they control a robot with a atari joystick which has serial port check it out http://www.robotroom.com/Joystick.html

For USB you need your microcontroller or computor to become a host between two.i'll read more and tell you.
