Hi,

would appreciate if someone could advise me:

i'm trying to interface a GPS receiver with TTL serial output to a PIC microchip with a serial receive PIN which is ST (Schmitt Trigger with CMOS Levels)

Been unable to get them to interface. I suspect it's the voltage levels. Can someone pls advice me if this is likely to be the cause and how i can solve the problem? (I thought of using a CD4504B, is this the best?)

Thank you so much, hope someone will be able to help me.

=)

hi, :)
this is pallav(pallav_engg@yahoo.com)
i think you have to use a max232 ic to interface it with your GPS
i will tell you more precisely if you can tell me the voltage level you are getting out of gps interface pins, if geting around 9v then use a voltage level convertor like max232 to convert it down to ttl level(0-5v) than only pic will be able to understand it
hope it will help you
with best regards
