@mishradk: Yes, I'm aware of FEL, I even downloaded the live dvd and tested it. In my opinion, its great for EDA, and testing etc. It has even got some great HDL synthesizers and verification tools. What it lacks however is a good IDE for writing uC code. In this post (clickie) (http://debusinnovations.blogspot.com/2008/09/digital-thermometer.html), I tested KontrollerLab (clickie) (http://sourceforge.net/projects/kontrollerlab) on Ubuntu (8.04, hardy), I found it very useful, especially since it works with avr-gcc, and all my existing code just works. I guess it should work with FEL (also debian based) too. As for PIC's I tested Piklab (clickie) (http://piklab.sourceforge.net/), again on Ubuntu hardy using SDCC for PICs. It also has a debian package which can be installed on FEL. If these two packages, or anything equivalent were available in FEL, it would really be a winner for me.

ya once things becomes cool in above areas, i will come back again to this world.
Hope you people are doing gr8...

Hey gr8 to see that you have also interest in the OSS and GNU/Linux.
Let me try your recommended tools and i will keep you all updated about my findings...
My day starts with Fedora and ends when the gcc takes a batch job to compile over night  So just thought to see how many people like this environment and would love to try out those..

N e way thanks for your review.
