View Full Version : Ideas for Computer Vision project

I'm planning to do my 7th semester project in Computer Vision. I'll be using OpenCV.
I'm trying to think of a Computer Vision application(not necessarily purely related to robotics) involving the following:

1. Using real time video as an input
2. Segmentation
3. Object recognition (using neural networks if possible)

We want the project to be very unique, or at least in an area not properly explored before.
If any idea for such a project has crossed your mind, or if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Thanking you in anticipation,

PS: I have the following rough areas(not exactly unique) in mind:
1. Security application for autonomous CCTV monitoring - checking for suspicious behaviour.
2. Autonomous Camera with automatic tracking of target.
3. Path prediction of a projectile. (no neural networks here)

I had done a project using openCV, although it was for my Masters.

It was to study and implement Robot Leader-Follow relationship. The implementation was not too tough. 2-3 robots following a leader using only vision for keeping distance and tracking.

This is just and idea. You could do something related to class room study and materials, like teacher assisting tools( touch screen, drag drop onto a whiteboard, drawing tools)

Looks at multi-touch projects and Jhonny Lee's project page.

Hey Ice,

Thanks for the reply.
