hi....... will sombody tell me how can i detect an arrow using image processing ( i mean i should get one specified output when left arrow is processed and another output for right arrow and so on......)
thankx all.........(it is for robotics competition SIGNAL MASTERO www.tathva.org) 8) [/url]

do you know to detect ANY pattern? if so, arrow wont be difficult.

Now if you are very new, start with the basics - like detecting the colours, circles etc.

hi will somebody tell me some commands used in detecting circles , squares...
will edge detection followed by correlation help to detect shapes....???

there are no "commands" to detect shapes. you need to implement algorithms to detect them.

I highly recommend you play around with image processing basics before you jump into shape detections or hough transforms.

Matlab is fine, in case you dont have matlab, try opencv. its a library, and easy to use.

i tried that book.. its in our syllabus... but a lot of stuff included....... i dont think that much is needed for robotics....... do you think i should read the whole book .. will it be help ful...
of i may note just the commands only.......

Obviously you use what you need out of the book. Read the book in your past time to understand the underlying logic.
