Doubt -- detecting sound of a particular frequency

Hi friends,
I have a doubt regarding detection of sound. How can we detect sound of a particular frequency. Is there any device of that sort which can detect the direction of sound source. Am a bit confused of this. Any help would be useful.

My advice will be to go in for a lm 567 IC ( its used to check if certain freq sound is there or not ) . It was widely used in various apps some time back costs around Rs 15 - 25 . This will solve ur problem of freq .

About directional sound ( im not so shore ) Try two microhone is stero fasion and try to use the time difference in recival of sound to locate its direction ( Just an Idea ) I think itll be complicated due to the very small time intervals handled . Anyhow if you come to know of any dvice let know :) .
