Hi guys,
for a project i need to measure temperature at around 500 degree Celsius .can't afford anything too expensive ,so any suggestions.

500 degree Celsius is a high temperature. Finding affordable sensors that can sense temperatures at this range may be a little tough.

What accuracy are you looking for in your sensor?

accuracy doesn't matter very much ,a rough indication of the temperature is good enough for me.

What, are you trying to measure? - Like, are you going to dip the sensor somewhere? Or is it something like a flame?

actually i am trying to build a pulsejet engine ,so i want to measure the exhaust gas temperature which i think would be around 500 degrees

Easiest would be to buy a infrared thermometer, something like -

@vikas : as i have mentioned before accuracy is not important so no point in spending big bucks on that temp gauge.
i tried a diy thermocouple but the values are unstable ,anyone tried it with success ??

Hmm .... i recommended a cheap solution :) .

Anyhow if you find something do let know.

oh sorry vikas i didnt care to check the price of it, when i saw the picture i concluded that it must be a costly one. I will look it up...
Thanks for pointing it out

RTD Type Temperature Sensors are Pretty Good and not expensive.

3 Wire RTD type Temperature Sensor you can have with in 200.00 to 300.00 Rupees and it will be for -200Degree to 850Degree Centigrades..

Accuracy is also good <0.5%

Hope this will help.

@simpaltech : That is just what i am looking for. where can i find one...?
