It was a exhilarating experience see the set of tasks performed by PR2 @ demonstration IITB Techfest.
Demonstrations were pretty simple & straightforward, like identifying a object, picking maneuvering & placing them accurately. Plug & play of cables & so on..

Operates on a Linux based OS ........ develop apps are open-source. The website http://www.willowgarage.com/ , hosts some exciting videos & simulation, with plenty of apps to load & play around.
Thoroughly recommend readers to try their hands at one of the most advanced robot based on open-source, Linux platform.

my extended congratulations to Dr. C. Amarnath and his son Dr.Amarnath for the arrangements.

Regards,
Rohan Soni

Thanks Rohan for sharing your experience. I also highly recommend readers to checkout ROS (http://www.ros.org/wiki/). ROS (http://www.ros.org/wiki/) is probably the greatest buzz in the robotics research community over last 1-2 years. And probably they have done it right this time. Apart from research, ROS is increasingly being used for hobby robotics. Apart from standard Linux, ROS (http://www.ros.org/wiki/) has been cross-compiled for many platforms. (See CrossCompiling (http://www.ros.org/wiki/ROS/CrossCompiling), Lego-NXT (http://www.ros.org/wiki/nxt), AVR (http://www.ros.org/wiki/avr_bridge) )
