Has anybdy got an idea how to keep the Hard drive motor running with the original electronics.
I am trying to make a POV clock which needs a fast motor. I have a HD motor but i dont know how to keep it spinning using the original electronics.

It will be much easier to build your own controller for Hard disk motors rather than hacking the existing board.

In case if you want to give it a try, figure out the driver chip in the board, get the datasheet, trace the connections and there you go. But then, you will have to cut many tracks and built many tracks, which is going to be tedious. You can build a BLDC sensorless controller with an 8 bit Micro. that will be easier.

will it run at full speed with that controller? wont there be a stalling problem wen the motor is starting wen there are no sensors.
Please share the circuit or at least the basic funda of the working...
