Smee,
I went to the site which sells these programmers..
http://www.hi-tronic.ca/index.php?site=showdevice.php&device=1

Though its able to progam most of the popular PICS like the 16F87x,
it isnt able to program the latest ones likt the 18F series and the 8 pin 12F microcontrollers.
I don't know if they upgrade the sftware to include new chips,u can ask them.

There are programmers which u can make exclusively for Microchip and get the above mentioned pics programmed

However the ebay progammer has the advntage of programming the chipcon wireless and 2 atmel chips.

There's a programmer in the Microcontroller section which u may acquire for under 500 bucks..im using it and have no issues with it

THnx ice, i'll be sure to ask about the new IC's. its always nice to get help and ideas from other people.

but 500 bucks is way to much for me. i don' have that kind of money under my bed... or anywhere! LoL

I am thinking i just might pick it up for starters. kinda need a USB b/c my new laptop does not have a parallel port! and its not a bad price.

Thankx again

Smee,
I meant 500 Rs not $..
Anyway if they update their software to include newer chips..it's a good buy indeed.
Wish u luck at the auction!
