I am a newbie to electronics. I would like to buy some stepper motors. how much do they cost? Something that runs on 6-12 V. I have a couple of very old DC motors, and I heard that DC motors go for about Rs 70-100 each. I hope i am not hopelessly off the mark. I would like the rates so that the guy at the store would not rip me off based on my knowledge. thanks in advance..

Hi,
I bought my stepper motors for Rs.80 each from Bombay Electronics at Grant Rd. in Mumbai. These motors were ex-stock, old, but in a very good condition. The specs were: 12V,450mA,1.8d. They are the ones used in old floppy disk drives. Suitable for small robotics applications.
Rs.80-Rs120 is a good bargain for such motors.

hi...
If you need a motor with a higher torwue capability, choose a motor with a current rating of 1 A or more. You will get these motors within Rs350...I am not very sure about the price, but my guess, it shouldn't go beyond that...

The one i used for my project was a 5.1V, 1A, 4-pole Unipolar motor which waas able to carry my vehicle which weighed around 1.5kgs....

Best of Luck
