hi ppl,
we got 12V motors fom rhythm elec, lamington rd., mumbai
we connected them across a l293d from the parallelport
now when we use outportb(0x378,0x01) the motor works but only with an initial push
with outportb(0x378,0x02) it doesn't even do that with initial help
although in both cases the motor does vibrate
please help us on this issue

have u given 12V alternate Power Supply to the L293D ... if yes and connections are correct .... it should work .... check the current ratings of motor and 12 volt supply

May even try connecting a 0.1 uF capacitor accross the motor terminals ....

one of the reasons why ur l293d wont work is due to the current rating of the motor.check out how much it draws with and without loading...
it shouldn be more than .5amps.
do all these only once u r sure tat all other connections r correct

The first thing to check would be the DC supply rating. If the motor is rated at 12V, i guess its minimum current rating should be anywhere between 0.5A to 2.0 A. So if are not using the proper battery, then the motor will only give jerks, when not aligned with a pole. When it aligned with a pole, and if for the next step the current is not upto the rated current, the motor wont move at all...
Best Of Luck
