anyone got a gear/control assembly for a fast car-type wire bot?

i wanted to make a pure toy race car built for racing.
hence i need
1.)total control
3.)a little rugged wheel with high traction

anyone got ideas/diags/whateva?

Why build you own

The best advice would be to go ahead and buy an RC car from market ( chinese one cost around Rs 600 ) . Retrofit these these to your hearts desire ...

That should get the job done !!!

why build anything at all

everything is avialable, if you wanna buy

the thrill of seeing your own handmade contraption move an inch under your command is something else altogether.it's not something you can buy.

Hand made contraption !!! :)

I still remember my first Robot ( Way back in 1998 ) ... It literally crawlled and nothing more than some tyres and motors with computerised control ....

But i learned a lot :)

Building does have a sense of achivement and pride attached to it .

hey Sorcerer,

First get an RC truck./car[the rucks better....good ground clearance]

Then try this,if u wanna retrofit ur RC truck.
1> Keep your Remote intact ,don't rip it.
2> Rip ur truck up.
3> Take out the maid circuit handling the motors and the power supply.
4> connect the motor outputs to a motor driver[L293D].
5> There u have it.
U just boosted ur Rc's voltage from the usual 5-6V to a whooping 12 V depening on the supply to the driver.

I tried it out and was awesome.Burnt rubber :!:

And remember if ur buying an RC ,buy the one which has has front/back/left/right in it and hopefully servos.

tht be cool, but i wont be allowed to participate in the robot competitions held in the engg. colleges in mumbai and decimate the rest

certain amount of bragging rights when you robot completes an obstacle course in 15secs, which the others cleared in around 1-2mins

i've seen it happen, races with the winner's time around 15sec, and most of the others between 1-3mins, if they complete the course, tht is
