Hi people! I have studied VHDL in my vacations and now I want to know some applications where FPGA's can be used in robotics.

Till now I have made few robots, the latest one being a robot doing obstacle avoidance using Sonars. Now my interest is shifting towards FPGA's , so can I get some ideas where FPGAs can be involved ?

i'm workin on one myself. FPGAs can be cool if you want ur robo to do some some neat tasks. some possible applications :

1) DSP : Image/Voice recognition

2) Computer interfacing : for sending large amounts of data like images/sounds using Bluetooth or USB. u can find some free USB to UART converters on the net.

3) Networking : make several prototypes of the same robot model and implement a network protocol for their communication. 8)

hope that helps...
