View Full Version : Branded stepper motors

I am facing probs with the stepper motors bought in junk yards. These are floppy drive stepper motors which dont give good torques at high speeds. I know the speed-torque characteristics of a stepper but still , I need a bit higher torque and a better speed.

I want motors which can give me good performance in competitions like micromouse and distance tracker where speed and accuracy both matters a lot.

So if you guys know some brands available in India which make stepper motors as i have stated then do tell me. And if you have an idea of their prices then let me know about that also.

As my need if for micrmouse and line followers, the stepper motor shall be as small as possible satifsying my above mentioned needs. NEMA-17 size if ideal for this job.

I have heard people using Nippon Pulse stepper motors in micromouse, do we get those in India ?

Does any company send stepper motors as samples ?

Hey I have one problem in selecting the right motor for my needs , I am not able to select what is the right value of torque I need. Is there any method to calculate the approximate value of torque that will do my work?

Hey while going through the site for micromouse i found some specs for micromouse steppers , so there are specifications like 4V 950mA and 5V 500mA.

These all were in NEMA17 size, so can you suggest me some place where such motors are available? If the place is in Mumbai or Bangalore then do give me the detailed address and phone number along with expected price.

That would be really helpful for me :D

assume coefficient of friction 0.7 approximately and speed of 2m/s is controlable if your mouse weight is approx 750 gms. take accleration of 2 m/s2 and calulate the torque reqired.

torque specification of motor is at 24V u can take PM42S-100 motor and apply higher voltage of about 35 volts using boost converter with a current limiting circuit of 500mA and use l6219 microstepping IC to get more performance.
