Hello sir, I am working on project in which I have to use a IR remote control to operate a toy car. Can you name a IC which I can use as IR decoder

Which short of IR coding are you doing??

TSOP1738 is a popular IR detector......now I'm bit confused, whether you are asking for a detector or decoder!! You can use a detector followed by a uC....for decoding.

Do u want to control robo with a TV remote or any other way

If you want to do with TV remote then use TSOP1738 and a microcontroller, u will get lot information from internet. Otherwise you have to buy IR modules, which i don't know.

tsop1738 is an ir detector...
but it detects ir encoded at 38khz only.

gud range....

u can go for ready made remote controlled car toys . rip of the module from there and use it in ur robo.

Guys have given you so many suggestions but I am still confused about your concern ?

What do you need a detector or a decoder ?

A detector will just detect the presence or absence of Ir in its range.

A decoder will map you the keys pressed in the remote control and will help you in implementing actual control of the vehicle.

What you need at the receiver end is a combination of detector and decoder.

Or you can just start off with a detector and the decoding part your microcontroller can do.

u can use ht12A encoder and ht12D decoder for infrared
