Default 8-bit binary to BCD converter without microcontroller

I want to display the output of my optocouplers on a set of 7-segment LED displays. The output is in form of 8-bit binary and I want to convert it into BCD to be fed into the 7-segement decoder 7447. Can anyone suggest me a circuit without a microcontroller to perform this job ?

    Default hi

    Hello Dev,
I think 74148 (inputs are active low) would do the job. Its a 8 line to 3 bit priority encoder. Connecting these three bits to lower 3bits of 7447 would enable you to display 0-7 numbers.

74147 is another option. 10 bit binary to 4 bit BCD
