Default Are pager motors available in India

    Hi all,
I have been looking around for pager motor at different places in Bangalore, I could not find a place where they sell small motors(tiny vibration motors),
could any one tell me a place in India where i can find pager motors ( even motors used in mobiles for vibration alert would do).

BTW: Im building a micro RC plane, hence i need a very light motor.

Thanks in advance for your time.
    Cheers!

    Hi SteelWool,

RC planes requires good high performance miniature motors. u can request Docel and get the motor specification. Pager motor, though small, might not be able generate sufficient force...

by the way if you want to start with the pager motors then try out in SUNDAY market at CityMarket. Go there at 7:30 am on sundays. But u will hv to search for them....

    Ya As kiran said..
At max the pager moters can drag a paper made a/c but I dont think it can give a lift..

Thanks for the updates guys, I have heard about the sunday market in bangalore; as far as i know in sunday market we would get second hand stuff, I wanted to know if there are shops, who sell these kind of motors first hand, I need some details such as ratings and stuff, which only a genuine shop guy can give.

I belive many of "BEAM Robots" also use these kind of small motors.

As far as thrust, power is concerned, i belive a pager motor would suffice for what i intend to build,
Here are details of a Micro mite - Micro RC powered plane.
    http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...ght=micro+mite

Also here are a few pager powered planes, hope many of u robo specialists get inspired by these .

The most cool thing about these micro flyers is that, we can hack open, cheap RC cars, and use their components, well range ain't gonna be good, but who cares, as long as u r able to fly in a basketball court, its good enough.

Hope more of u great ppl will give a try at this.

    Cheers!

They are availible in India for Rs 60 / motor.

The are quite heavy for your micro RC plane ... Here is what i recommend

See the micro indoor plane ... Buy them ( you can never build anything cheaper ).

Should you even now plan to build you can buy brushless High RPM motos here .

Ok SteelWool, Keep us updated too on the progress...

By the way Docel is specialist in Aerodynamics, I interacting with him for my RC-Heli.. Earlier I have tried with many small motors and number of self-made rotors but failed in all the attempts..

By the way keep us updated on this..

u can motors from quality electronics, kothari electronics in SP Road..

    All the best..

    Default Pager

    1. Pager motors are the vibrator motors in Pagers and Mobile Phones. They will be available, as far as Mobile ohones exist!!
    2. The Motor used in the Mite is NOT a pager motor. It is a M-20 (N-20) and is obsolete. Some motors are still available from aere dealers for $10 to $40/- ( Plenty of varients)
    3. NO motor can lift its own weight. Geared enhancements and aerodynamic Bernoulli's principles do. The propeller is the most important Lift devise.
    4. The pager motor comes in various sizes (and weight!) . The motors used for Microflight modules will weigh abt 2gms and DOES NOT COME OUT OF A PAGER. IT IS MANUFACTURED with Voltage, torque and speed characteristics, tailored for Micro aircraft models. It is usually referred to as Pager motor, denoting the shape, size and construction.
Serious micro aeromodellers buy these by the crate. No motor lasts for long in an aero.
    5. Micro airplanes are a work of art. Ordinary humans cannot make AND fly them. They need to be Gods.
( The total weight is about 6 to 20 gms. This needs a Jewellers Scale. The materials used are all superlight and cost a lot of money. The plane has to be crafted by skills equivalent to an EYE surgeon. The Pictures look simple and easy. So does the space shuttle.
The W. record is some 1.654gms held for a short time by some non-english speaking russian teacher.
    6. All those who frequent RC-Groups are mad. They are also Gods.
    7. The batteries for these miniatures weigh 1.2 to 2.5 grams and cost 1500INR + packing, forwarding and courier.
    8. No shopkeeper in India knows what he is selling (except Kiran from Ankit elec.) They will tell you watt in place of volt and swear that both are the same.
    9. Bangalore Sunday market has upgraded from Junk to Vintage. They have stopped selling to locals.
    10. Still interested?????

Thanks for the update docel, don know wat else 2 say man.. u pretty much have dashed hopes of any newbies.

My intention was to know if Pager motors(M-20, N-20..or any local equivalant motors ) are available in india.
I guess from your answer pretty-much means that they are not sold at any place @ bangalore.

Now, I also wanted those tiny motors used in mobiles, cauz i wanted to use them as actuators for the heavier plane that i have built.

As far as aerodynamic's are concerned,i guess i can get something off the ground(im not efficient/expert, but still can get something working).

Do let me know if there are places(India) where i can find these motors,

    Thanks again.

    Hey 'wool!
    Relax!!.....
There is always a way when you have the will- just dont lose it!!

You asked some questions and suggested some hints and references. I just put things in the proper perspective.
The Micros are NOT for NEWBIES, thats all.

Tell you what; the best thing to do aeromodelling is to make a glider, get some flying experience and THEN try engines. Otherwise, you will run into stumbling blocks that you cannot climb over. You will also be thoroughly dissappointed and just give up. You'll do this due to wrong assumptions and trials, which is not correct!
I try to caution people to disaster. Doesnt mean everything must or will end as one.
Let me tell you this: if you play with gliders and make them fly the way YOU want, you'll be ready for some success with advanced planes. A lot of things cannot be learnt by reading/ forum advice. You have to touch to know the feel!
You convince yourself you'll try and keep on trying in the proper way- and i'll help you all i can.

So cheer up and get down to some Glider builds
