    Default Cell fone batteries!

    Hello ppl,

Just wanted to know if anyone has used cell phone batteries (Li-ion) for their robots. The batteries for NOKIA 3210 are 3.2V and 850 mAh.

If anyone has used them or any other Li-ion batteries (from laptops etc) would like them to share their experiences....
    Any tips too are welcome...

    Thank you,

    Default its dangerous

hi friend i wont recommend the use of li-on battery fro several resons

    1) the electrolite used is extremely dangerous and flameable and the batery can burst if tampered

    2) though dense in energy li-on battery can't give large current bursts needed for robots.

    3) charging and discharging havr to to monitored as battery voltage should remain in specific voltage range only, there is upper and lower batt. voltage

    4) special charing requirements

5)yes they r costly (atleast the orignal ones r)

if u want more difficulties list i can mail u a long mail when i have time .

Laptop ones are critical as the cells if u use need to be charged via a controller . Temperature rise during charging may explode the cell.

there are emergency mobile power packs , try for smaller robots ..
I am sure they are safe and come with inbuilt chargers
