Default motors for use with BS2

    Hi

I require 2 motors for use with BS2 for a small robot.

The highly compatible ones are provided by parallax for 12$ each
    but shipment will take time.
    specifications: 6v dc , 45-60 grams,sufficient torque

Can anyone suggest a replacement thats available in India and is cheaper ?

From my side i recommend go in for simple geared motors 2 $ a piece ( RS 100 + ) and an l293d will make you cost about Rs 125 So for about Rs 300 for every thing ( 2 geared motors and an l293d motor driver ) . Cheap and effective

    Vikas,
I am in Kanpur. Can you suggest from where I can order and purchase these Rs 100/- geared motors? I can send the payment by DD and want to receive them in Kanpur.

    Waiting for your reply..
    Thanks,

    Hi Sunil,

Geared motors are available at "Bombay Electronics". But they are much costlier then Rs 100 ... about Rs 225. Here's the contact information:

    13-B Shamrao Vithal Marg,
Off Lamington Road, Mumbai - 400007

    Ph: 388-5654 (Off), 836-6374 (Res)

But I don't know whether they send components against DD. You better ask them directly.

Those are 300 rpm motors, pretty good torque...works fine for mobile bots. These motors are a combination of 2400 rpm DC motor and sturdy metal gearbox in a single package.[/img]

    HI Suman,
Nice page u got up...i can link u from mine http://www.machinegrid.com

just to clarify ...300RPM has a bit of less torque if ur planning to go for a research platform...their kewl for competitions....bcos there were instances[competitions at mumbai] with bots running 150 RPM motors[supposedly having more torque]....finding it difficult to climb inclines...
maybe a 60 ,30 or 10RPM should do...i use 30 Rpms and their more then enough.
