TRI is selling this module for micromouse ... object detection .. and the are demanding a range of 3-15 cm !! .. and it wouldnt be hampered with stray IR radiations ...

can this be achieved .. can a IR pair be used and the IR led be modulated to provide such a nice range with analog o/p ? I guess how .... can any one explain me ?? I am puzzled !
