    Default ARP : ATMEGA8 as the uC

    After a lot of thinking and looking around i will be using ATMEGA series as the core uC for the ARP Project . Clone projects in 8051 and pic will also be made availible .

    The reason i chose Mega is simple features/price ratio is very good . Also c51 is 2 damn old and 89s8252 ( > Rs 200 too ) has no onboard Ram this means no mutitasking or usage of C etc .

    At a price of Rs 200 / piece it was the best buy around

    Hi Vikas, I have a few queries regarding the ATMEGA8

    1. From where can I source this chip ?? It's not available in my local market ...is it available in delhi ?? If yes then where ...

    2. Can it be programmed by T51 prog (x51 programmer)

    Please help me out....i really like the config of the chip and wish to use it in my future projects

    Well arp aint dead ( I began it and so itll be done )

    Well i was ( and am ) a little low on time ( this weekend lots of holidays so finally relief from my hectic schedule ) -- so may be i can code the RTOS . BTW the scemantics is 70 % done ( using eagle )

    Hi Vikas

    Since people frequently use both ATMEL & Microchip uCs, should'nt we make an RTOS for both platforms.....


    I'm pretty interested in this ( the PIC RTOS that is )...but would like to know more in detail of how an RTOS is structured!

    If you brief me on this i'll be glad to code it for PIC mcus!

    Thatll be great ... Well discuss this also when we meet ( im writing it for avr ) .

    Try to download "programming embedded systems in c and C++" from the net ( kazaa / emule ) ... .pdf though google ... GO though it its nice and fun way to start and ill be implementing the one given in it .

    Yep

    Lots of projects out there here are some diffrences i plan to forsee ...

    Aimed at robotics
    Minimum necessary functionality ( kernel < 3 kb )
    Multi architechture ( Atmel, pic,x51 )
    Meant for platforms availible in India
    As a learning experiece
    Well documented and easy to use ,
