Actually, I have to send some video and some data from my mobile platform
(wireless) to my computer for processing. Im planning to use Xbee
modules developed by Maxstream. Is there any other alternate and
better way to do it?... Also where can i get Xbee modules in India?
preferably in Chennai (so i can get them easily).

What are the specs of you camera ?

Here is what i would have done ...

Use the RF band to transmit video ( I mean simple wireless camera ) and any normal highspeed transceiver to transmit / receive data.

It depends on the application also . Encoding video is not easy and even decent resolution video takes up a lot of bandwidth. So better to have a video capture/tvtuner connected to a video RF reciver at the host station.

But again u have not told us anything about ur application , budget etc .

Havent heard anyone selling xbee as such. Better import ...

    Hello Vikas,
Tried commercially available wireless camera (the ones on ebay), but the range less than 100m. I heard that Xbee supports video transmission and it has range of about 100m outdoor and the Xbee Pro has a 1500m range

As for the application, i want the video to be processed on the base station C for obstacle avidance and object tracking.
And for the budget around .... as cheap as possible

i doubt even xbee pro can give that much capability and too transmit live video for obstruction avoidance

and you have to use its highest baud rate which means it range decreases to ~100 mt for data integrity

i suppose your solution is some where in those wireless cameras may be try with wired camera using with video transmitter circuit
anyways i have access to xbee pro, and try to figure out my self

    sorry dude,

i try plan up to couple video stream with xbee module but i find no way, only solution i could thought of is camera modules like avr/cmu cam but those module are extremely slow as because of UART interface.

so i don't think it is possible with those Maxstream modules.
    i would suggest this
    http://aplusindia.net/aplusindiauser...o=AVM-T100-R10

anyways those RF modules are really great, had tried 433 -315Mhz modules, seen NRF but xbee are for working with no headaches ,

about availability, in company which i work ,use these in one government project and purchase those in bulk so never know the source directly but still it cost ~1.5k after all dues.

This depends on your application. I had done this using a BF537 DSP, a cmos camera and a zigbee. This was not a video stram, but a series of JPEG images sent over zigbee.

If speed is a constraint, google for "Lantronix Matchport"

If your project is being funded, try the board out here:

You say your platform is mobile. Can you put in a laptop there? Yyou can do all your processing onboard- and also transmit data via UDP through a wireless network.

    Hi ice,
actually the platform is a mobile and airborne, a RC helicopter. I have the problem of adding any extra weight to it. So cant possibly inclue a laptop. Planning to use Gumstix processor.
    Still working on it.
