    Default Prob. using Steppers

    Hi..
    well i m using two unipolar stepper motors from a floppy drive to control the motion. the controlling of signalling is done by 89s52 uC via uln2803 ic, the problem is that the steppers dont run properly, there is buzz like sound and also jerking occurs at times. plz help

    boya,
    u may not be connecting the wires of the stepper in its proper sequence
    if u can,try looking at the connectors the stepper motors come with on the floppy drive..thats why the jerks
    and connect them in tht sequence..

    hi,
    as ice said, the sequencing could be wrong. Apart from this there are others things that could go wrong too, like,
    *the supply current is not enough(should be greater than 500mA)
    *the step cyle is too fast(keep it slow intitially)
    *loose connections
    And to check the sequence, try connecting the common pin to +ve supply and the gnd to each of the other pins in sequence, then the motor should move by 1 step each time, with trial and error u can find the correct sequence.

    the prob. was that the stepping was very fast and also current was less,
    but now its fine.
