Thread: Grid using IR sensors

    Default Grid using IR sensors

I want your help. I want to make one grid using IR LED and IR Photodetector. It will detect the obstacle. For example 100 LED on top, 100 LED on Left side. 100 Photodetector on bottom and 100 on rigth side. Now if one ball is the grid it will break the IR beam at that location. So i will get the coordinates of the ball from the status of the Photodetector. This is all i want to do.

    Now my doubt....
Is it possible to make IR sensor in which LEDs and Photodetectors are very close?? i mean if the size of grid is about 15 to 18 inch, at that range the IR rays spread and it will affect other Photodetector . am i right ??

If this thing is possible please suggest me some reference or components to do that.
I am new in this world and don't know much so sorry if i wrote something wrong.
