Thread: Variable speed

    Default Variable speed

I am trying a new technique to make the bot go in circles. I am planning to vary the speed of the motor of the inner wheel so that it rotates slowly. Should i connect the resistor in parallel or series? Would both have the desired effect?

    How efficient is the system?

@saviojames: Connecting the resistance parallel to the motor will not affect the speed of the motor. You will need to connect the resistance in series with the motor. This will create a divider between the motors impedance and the resistors value. This will make the motor go slower. Ensure that the resistance is of a sufficient rating of power dissipation. Also, do not exceed 200% of the motors impedance, this will drop the potential to less then 1/3rd of the rating and the motor would run the risk of stalling.

    Hope this helps,
