Default Meetup / share ideas on robotics

    Hi guys,
This is Kaushik from bangalore. I was interested in getting into robotics. I was with Philips and NXP Semiconductors for quite a few years, so programming and interfacing with hardware is not new to me. My weak areas are the mechanics and electrical parts. Wanted to share ideas/get advice etc. Can we meet up on weekends ? My number is 98809 32 809. call me or sms me.
    Bye.
    kaushik.

    Hi Akshay,
I was into R&D at NXP. So no direct conn to sales. However this is what I gleaned from the website. Try this. Hope it helps. Tell me if its not helpful. I can try asking some local sales guys in Blr and get some delhi contacts.

@Akshay , what is so special about that chip?
Cant you use the standard at89c51 micro controller instead of that?

Arent both pretty much the same anyway?

    Hi all,
@suhasm:Yes, they are same as far as pin configuration is concerned.I don't think a normal AT89C51 chip has these features:

    40MHz, 5 Volt 8051-based Microcontroller with 32 I/O lines, 3 Timers/Counters, 9 Interrupts/4 priority levels, 64K+8K FLASH, 1K on-chip RAM, SPI, Dual Data Pointers, WDT,
    5-channel PCA

My program is written based on these features & use large memory. If i switch to 8051 i'll have to change many things. Its not that i can't do it but i don't want that headache again.

The second reason is that i have a vast experience with this chip.It was my first uC.If I switch to 8051, the first problem will be that i dont have Atmel Flip or any other proggramer. If i get that still i think i'll have problems as i haven't used it ever.As far as NXP is concerened i have a good experience with Flash Magic.
