    Default Yet another UAV project

    hello all..

I have seen lots of UAV projects discussions in this forum, have a lot of interest in building one. My idea is first to buy a toy, play with it for a while, try to modify it. and slowly build own my own. I have found this item in ebay. http://tinyurl.com/qeveew seems very cheap to experiment with. Anyone pls comment on this product, is worth playing with it.?

    regards..

Many have proposed this project here ... and have yet to see one succeed.

Those cheap RC kits will not work , have a budget of of about Rs 40k to start with for UAV. If you are willing to spend about this much and more ... u stilll need to learn a lot.

@rakeshmmk: A helicopter is difficult. Try something cheaper and much much easier. Try building an autonomous blimp like this one (clickie). You could build one for less then Rs.1000.

even adding small hardware too the cheap RC ones stops them from flying and destabilizes them.

    Hello Rakesh,

I HAVE this helicopter, the one in the link.
Reasons why u should not use this heli for UAV:

    1) It works on IR and its max range is not more than 4-5 meters.

2)It is very light, its entire frame is made of thermacoal or styrofoam, so its not stable even in very little wind.

3)It runs on a motor similar to the vibration motor in mobile phone. So it can not carry anything else other than its own body weight.

4)And, for my TOY, it only does only UP and DOWN most of the time, u cant control forward, back, left, right very accurately.

I should say u are thinking a lot like me. But after i bought this, i found out it is no where near to an actual RC helicopter.

Trust me. I have done a lot of study, just to understand that i cant do this single handedly. And if u want to make this cheap, its highly difficult.

    Keep posting.
