Hi guys, i think the problem lies with the very basics itself.. education.

I have seen the same pile of books, on industrial robotics and degrees of freedom for all 4 years of my graduation, and why?

most people are not interested, they look at amazing interest at a robot in movie or a science show or anyplace, and most forget about it after 10 min, people don't tend to probe into the details. How many of you guys search the net to see the working of a scifi device?

When people start showing more interest, the business men will never loose the chance to cash by getting the market needs.

I faced this problem myself, i live in one of the largest cities in Andhra Pradesh, and there is only one place for electronics, and only one hobby shop, and most of the sensors are not available over there.
If a budding aspirant comes with lot of interest and finds that he cant get the stuff here and he has to import them paying lot for transportation, what would be his first thought? to let it go or keep it for later.

The more interested -> demand -> availability and growth. It might be true that we are a bit behind, but we can definitely grow to great heights.
    Let me know your views.

Do not go to UK, go to US for higher studies. I had calls from 7-8 top Univ of UK. I dropped the idea later

Two reasons, Post MS job prospects did not look that great and funding is an issue, moreover UK will always be considered second grade when compared to US. I was planning to pursue my MS/Phd at US, but it was recession time back in 2008, and i had got through DRDO test, thus i finally joined here. I still wish to pursue Masters and a Phd, but they can wait for a little while.
