    Use a Piezo ceramic sensor

The same thing you find in EFY kits or piezo buzzers

I've tried tweeters to...but they dont work

    Hi,
For Sonar sensors you have to use 40kHz ultrasonic transmitter receiver pair which will cost around Rs.320. If you want good sonar distance finder you have to use them and as far as i know there is no other cheaper alternatives.

    Hi,
I think your friend imported a sonar distance finder circuit. What I told is Ultrasonic sensor. Ultrasonic sensors are used in sonar distance finder circuit or obstacle avoidance circuit. I don't know anybody in India who makes these circuits. You should be able to get sensors in Delhi, ask any robotics india member from delhi. if you search internet you will find a number of circuits and you can build yourself one. That is the only cheapest way to get ultrasonic distance finder or obstacle avoidance circuit. also search forum here in robotics india. you will come across some circuits.
