Default How to burn a program on a microcontroler ATMega32 from a laptop.

I am trying to program for ATMega32 using a serial programmer. (since i was given that as a part of a kit)
I have a 64 bit core i5 laptop and it does not have a serial port, so I am not able to connect my serial programmer to it. Can anyone please tell me what to do.
also I was suggested Ponyprog serial programer is it available for 64 bit?
When I am Instald a 32 bit version(given by my friend) in my laptop it shows me a message saying unsupported architecture. Does it have any other compatible version for 64 bit i5 processor?
I am using winavr as the to write the code.
    please help..

Please get a usb programmer , serial programmers rarely work in todays world unless on a PC with real serial port. Even USB to serial will not work with them,so dont buy that either.

Best bet get a USB programmer for headache free operation.
