Are you from mech background ? If not buy a ARM. Designing a decent pick and place arm will cost 10x times than simply buying it as a kit.

Yes I am from Mech background. But if you observe carefully (not much seen in the video) the robotic arm is controlled through a avr controller and
receiving commands wirelessly through a PC (a simple .NET interface).
Designing a robotic arm definitely costs much. silverbullet is just starting his work and I suppose he is not planning an Industrial level arm.
Here I was trying to help the query because I have worked on similar application.
