    Default Help choosing a microcontroller

I need to buy a micro-controller for a project which involves the micro-controller working as a transmitter and receiver (like a remote).
I'm new to micro-controller interfacing . I have done programing for 8051 kit.

I was considering Arduino Uno kit but it is slightly costly and the original one is not available in my city.(only clone is available for Rs900)

Please suggest me micro controller which is easy to interface and cost effective...

Note:My computer does not have a serial port(RS-232 ) port.I will have to do with out it.

Is it hobby project or a commercial project ?

Incase of hobby pick any with a UART and then buy cheap tx/rx pair which do 4800 bps and you should be done.

Arduino can be bought at cheaper rates from probots.

I'm trying to work with microcontrollers for the first time. I cannot makeup my mind on which microcontroller to buy for a first timer.Which one would you suggest..?

    Its a hobby project.

Can you name other aurduino like kits which are easily available in india..?

I cannot make a list for you , but Arduino board is the one you should go with , as you are new to this micro world.

    You can buy these -

EM makes high quality boards and have a reliable track record. For experimenting buy these -

That should be sufficient to try a lot of things.

NXP P89V51RD2 [8051 Family] will be good for you. You can burn your hex file through serial port using Flash Magic Tool software. No need to purchase 8051 programmer.

It is not only important performance of the microcontroller because every producer has strong enough uC if you pay well. But, only few of them can tell that programming of their microcontrollers are easy and understanable task. In my expirience, AVR programming tool are the best and allow you in few step to configure your project according to desirable demands. Here are link that explain more together with few our tutorials.

    Hope that I helpped...
