    Default fpga or arm

    i have 2 choice for summer training
    1)fpga
    2)arm

    which one ,should i go for .
    please help me in selecting .

    Ill say ARM , it is a more generic platform.

    Ill recommend think of a cool project you wish to do and make the choice , FPGA is cool but most people will do fine without them.

    Even though I agree with vikas about ARM being a more generic platform.

    But if you are planning to do this training for getting a job, FPGA is a better option. Companies for some reason go for FPGAs.

    The real reason for companies to go for FPGA's is money, In FPGA domain everything is expensive , there is no open source other than a little , and everything is IP based. Yep they have high throughput's but the requirements for such are rare , unless in Defence / Telecom.

    Though you can get Spartan 3 at < Rs 500 , but trying to deliver a products on it is something else ...

    Also in my lifetime ive only used 1 commercial FPGA based product ( ICD3 ) , other wise ARM is countless.

    i decided to go with arm & wants to learn it myself ,but can't find any good resource to start.
    Suggest links or books that teach from basic.
