Default Circuit diagram to PCB layout

I want to design a PCB. which software can I use to draw the ckt. diagram and get it convertd to PCB layout?
What do u give the people who make PCB's - the computer file or a printout of the layout? how much does it cost to get a single piece done?

    Hi,
which software can I use to draw the ckt. diagram and get it convertd to PCB layout?
You can use PCB123 (www.pcb123.com) software with which u can draw the schmatic and then convert it into layout. This software is a freeware.
Other software u can use is Orcad which very good. You can draw the schematic in Orcad capture and convert it to layout using Orcad Layout. But demo version has limitation on number of pins.

What do u give the people who make PCB's - the computer file or a printout of the layout? how much does it cost to get a single piece done?
It depends on the manufacturer of the PCB. You have to give 1:1 scale of the layout of the PCB or the gerber file which is generated by layout software. gerber file is usually used for computerized pcb manufacturing.
The cost of getting PCB done depends on the size of the PCB, whether it is single sided or double sided. Usually it will be costly for single PCB and will be cheaper per board when as the number boards made increases.

    thanks subot!

how costly is it exactly -say for a 15x15 cm single sided board? can you give some figures ? I have to decide whether I can go ahead with this.

    Hi,
It may cost you anywhere between Rs.200 and Rs.400. I am not sure about this as i have not got done my PCB outside. I have made my PCB myself so far.

Another tool is Proteus The package has got 2 tools Isis for schematic and Ares for pcb. It can simulate analog, digital and mixed circuits. There are virtual models for PIC, AVR, 8051, HC11, Basic Stamp oscilloscope, logic analyzer, stepper motor, led, lcd, matrix keypad etc. etc.

output of PCB software produces is Gerber & Postscript
for gerber output on film it costs Rs 1/- per SqCm.
Charges for making pcbs are 40 paise per SqCm. for Single sided board and Rs 1.2/- per SqCm for double sided pcbs with plated through holes and for non plated through hole it costs Rs 1/- for double sided board
For making pcbs there is additional charge of Rs 100/- per screen like masing screen, legebnd screen, artwork screen.
All this rates i get in mumbai for retail quentity
