Default changing the frequency of inbuilt clock

does anyone know how to change the frequency of the built-in clock in AVR chips?
PS: my programmer's software does not have any option to modify fusebits.

    Default

    Hi,

Im not sure about other AVRs but on the ATmega16 the internal RC clock is selected by default and runs at 1Mhz, which can be set to 4 or 8Mhz RC or a crystal/ceramic clock by changing the fuse bits.

You can change fuse bits using ponyprog2000 (by clicking the security and configuration bits button), its free and the circuit you need to program an AVR with it is very cheap and easy to build.
