Should Guest posting in the forum be disabled ?

Well

Lately ive seen there are lot of one time poster ( guests ... most ask real dumb questions , dont care to search and ask same thing again and again , post multiple time and the worst kind post Advertizments which are mostly off topic !!! ) .

So i am thinking of disablig guest postings .... Cause moderation requires time and sadly i dont have that much . What do you say guys ???

Leave it yaar...maybe those guys are apprehensive on posting their details on the net

YOu may want to do that if you think too many spammers try to post on the site...

But i'm not opposing it nor condoning it!

Yes...I agree with Vikas. Another alternative can be message reporting.....like in edaboard., where you can report to the administrator about crap topics just to catch up thier attention.

I feel the same.. most of the guests (not all) dont even bother going through the forums before asking.. and cause redundancy..

I usually just delete the posts... but I aint that patient most of the time..

disabling guest post will be a good option as it will give the members an added advantage of forums otherwise most of the people thought "why to go for membership.. there aint no difference but for the advetisements."

moreover.. spamming is a headache.. we are lucky that we dont have any serious spamming problems yet or I have seen postings by automated bots ;upto 300 posts per day.. finally crashing the site..

most guests dont care to check what is already available and go on asking the same questions over and again


other than this our RI members , i feel that dont use the forum effectively

Some of these Guest IP addresses match perfectly with the Spam IP addresses. So, these "Guests" may not be as innocent as they show to be.
Moreover, why are they "scared" of their identity and hide if they are honourable????? Honest helpers with good intentions will be open and available.
This looks like a deliberate attempt! Sorry if their IDs were hijached by hackers, but the case remains!

I have saved the IP addresses and anyone interested can have them for some WHOIS adventure. It is quite simple to pinpoint the "guests' identity.

Its time to BAN Guests , Anonymous and other RiffRaff from the Forums. :evil:

About the Guest .. It should be ... bannnnned ... May be bad for new comers ...
But a simple text can be put in page ...
